The morning in Cowra—the final destination of our journey—began with a profound sense of remembrance and a renewed pledge for peace. Amidst the stillness of the Japanese War Cemetery, we offered prayers in song and laid flowers at the graves of both Australian and Japanese soldiers. In this place, where those who were once enemies now rest side by side, our host families and local residents joined us, creating a circle of commemoration that transcended national borders. This visit—part of an unbroken tradition spanning nearly half a century, ever since our first trip in 1977—has served as the true highlight of our journey; it represents far more than a simple act of memorial, standing instead as a testament to the genuine friendship that has blossomed between our two nations.
